Workhorse Kings played a great acoustic show last night at the always hip Ashbary Coffeehouse. The highlight of the night and a great surprise for the band was having their faithful audience singing along to the lyrics on “Oh Lord”, “Miles after Miles”, and of course “Can’t Look Back”. There is no better compliment to the band. I can tell you they are feeling very privileged to have such wonderful fans.

Opening for Workhorse Kings was singer/songwriter Allison Moroni, who literally dropped jaws over her incredible voice. Allison would compare favorably to Neko Case and the guys were lucky to have her accompany them on five songs in their ten song set. Currently, the best place to check out Allison is

Workhorse Kings released their debut CD “Carousel” to a roaring welcome last night at the Elbo Room in Chicago. As always, the faithful showed up in their numbers and celebrated the culmination of the band’s efforts in the recording studio. Frontman Dan, ever the showman, was in rare form standing on the drum kit, singing from the floor, and playing his guitar behind his head. It’s safe to say he all the boys were playing with a little more emotion with seeing their heart and souls brought into physical form and having all their friends, families, and fans there to share it. And the guys couldn’t have asked for a better line-up from the Elbo Room with Bear Lake and Fight the Quiet sharing the stage. It was a truly remarkable night in the Workhorse Kings history.
